Want to set up a Qonto account for your existing business? It's simple and time-saving in just a few steps.
You will need the following documents and information
- 📄 Your company data or commercial register number
- 👥 Your valid accepted identity document
- The data of your company's beneficial owners
- If you are not a legal representative, a power of attorney
- A smartphone, tablet, or a computer with a camera & microphone. 💡 The Google Chrome browser is 100% compatible with Qonto.

First, go to the Qonto.de website and click on the "Open an account" button at the top right of your screen.
Your Company Data
Inform us that your company is based in Germany so your case can be handled by the appropriate team.
Select the legal form of your company.
Enter the email address that will serve as your username when logging into your Qonto interface.
Check your mailbox to retrieve the confirmation code and then enter it in the respective field. ❗️The confirmation code is only valid for 30 minutes.
Search for your company by entering the company name or commercial register number and clicking "Search". You will then be asked to confirm your company's details.
- If you can't find your company, select the option "Add information manually" and enter your company details.
Your Personal Data
Enter your personal data and indicate whether you are a legal representative.
If you are the legal representative of the company, select your name and confirm your details.
❗️ If you are not the legal representative of the company, you must upload a power of attorney from the legal representative to you, as well as their identity document.
Beneficial Owners
Provide all beneficial owners of the company.

❗️It is crucial that you provide all other beneficial owners of your company. A beneficial owner is a natural person who:
owns more than 25% of the company's capital or voting rights
exercises control over the company in another form

Order the Qonto card of your choice and confirm the delivery address.
Confirm Your Identity
Important! To fully utilize your account, a video identification or eID with our partner IDnow is required.

- Start the video call with IDnow to fully utilize your account as soon as possible!
💡 Good to know: Simplified Identity Verification
If you already have a verified Qonto account and want to register another company, you may not need to go through identity verification again under certain conditions.
How simplified identity verification works
Qonto uses an "identity per person" model. This means:
- Your identity verification is linked to you (your email address), not to each individual company
- When registering additional companies, your identity can be automatically reused
- The system automatically selects the best available verification from all your verified Qonto accounts
When is identity verification automatically reused?
Your identity is automatically verified when:
- ✅ You already have a verified Qonto company
- ✅ You use the same email address
- ✅ The new company is registered in the same country
- ✅ You register as the account holder
In this case:
- You will immediately see a success screen
- No need to repeat identity verification
- You can proceed directly with account setup
- No new identity documents are required
When is a new identity verification required?
A new identity verification is necessary when:
- ❌ You register a company in a different country
- ❌ You use a different email address
- ❌ You join as an Admin or Employee (not as Account Holder)
- ❌ Re-verification is required for compliance reasons
Multiple companies within your account
Example: You already have a verified account for Company 1 and now want to add Companies 2 and 3.
Identity verification will be automatically reused when:
- You use the same email address
- The companies are in the same country
- You register as the account holder for each
Which verification is used?
If you have multiple verified Qonto accounts, the system automatically selects the best verification based on:
- Verification method (e.g., Fourthline, IDnow eID, IDnow Videocall)
- Completeness (e.g., with liveness detection, tilted ID document)
- Account holder role (verification as account holder is preferred)
- Recency (newer verifications are preferred)
💡 Important: Your original identity documents remain securely stored in the account where you were originally verified.

Can I reuse my identity verification when joining another company?
Yes, if you use the same email address, the account is in the same country, and you join as the account holder. The verification will be automatically reused once you log in. Important: If you join a company as an Admin or Employee, a new identity verification is required.
What happens if I change my email address?
If you change your email address, the system will treat you as a new person. In this case, you must complete a new identity verification, as the verification is linked to your original email address.
If one of my companies is rejected or closed, does it affect my other companies?
Each company is evaluated independently. However, if your identity verification is rejected for compliance reasons, this may affect all your current and future Qonto companies, as the verification is linked to you as a person.
Can I have different roles at multiple companies?
Yes, you can be invited to different companies with different roles (Account Holder, Admin, Employee). Your existing identity verification will be automatically reused when you log in, provided you use the same email address and the company is in the same country.
Are my documents re-uploaded for each new company?
No, for automatically reused verifications, no new documents are required. Your original identity documents remain securely stored in the account where you were originally verified.
How long does account validation take?
Your account is typically validated within 24 hours after completing all registration steps. With automatically reused identity verification, this process can often be faster.
Does simplified identity verification apply to all countries?
Yes, automatic reuse of identity verification is available in all markets where Qonto operates. However, the prerequisite is that both companies are registered in the same country. Cross-border reuse is currently not possible.
What happens if I have multiple verified accounts? Which verification is used?
The system automatically selects the best available verification based on verification method, completeness, role, and recency. You don't need to manually select anything—the system automatically identifies the optimal verification. Important: Only verifications with current verification methods (e.g., IDnow eID) can be reused. Older verification methods are no longer valid.
