To comply with the compliance rules imposed by the Code monétaire et financier, we are required to verify the authenticity of the identification documents of all Qonto users. These checks are necessary to combat fraud, money laundering, and terrorism.
We require a valid proof of identity to confirm your identity:
a double-sided color copy of your identity card, issued by a member state of the European Union or the EFTA
or a double-sided color copy of your passport, issued by a member state of the European Union, EFTA, or one of the following countries:

- 🇨🇦 Canada
- 🇯🇵 Japan
- 🇳🇿 New Zealand
- 🇬🇧 United Kingdom
- 🇺🇸 United States
or your valid residence permit for Germany
Please ensure that your proof of identity is valid and easy to read (i.e., not covered by objects or camera flash – see examples below). All pages of the document must be clearly visible.

What are the criteria for identification documents?
1/ Accepted proofs of identity
2/ Quality
All information in the document (as well as the distinguishing features in the background) must be perfectly readable.
3/ Format
The document must be completely depicted and must not be cut off at the corners or edges. It is best to leave a visible white border.
4/ Color
Documents must be depicted in original colors. Documents in black and white or with flash reflections will not be accepted.
5/ Validity and Features of the Document
The document must be valid on the day of your registration. We cannot accept provisional identification cards or passports.
The residence permit must be in credit card format. It is accepted if it is indefinite or relates to a professional or commercial activity.
