Accelerate your payment collection process with our Payment Links feature, powered by our partner Mollie, a leading European payment service provider.
With Qonto, you can create secure, professional payment links, either as part of your invoices or as standalone links.
- On invoices, the link appears as a clickable link, making it easy for your clients to pay instantly. You can also share the invoice link directly to your client via email, SMS or any other channel.
- As a standalone link, you can share it via email, SMS, or even integrate it on your website — perfect for quick, one-off payments.
All payments are tracked and automatically reconciled in your Qonto account, saving you time on bookkeeping.
The Payment Links feature simplifies how you get paid, helping you maintain healthy cash flow and spend less time on payment administration.
How to activate/deactivate payment links?
Before being able to use payment links, you will need to activate them. We are using a third party payment service provider to power our payment links offer (Mollie). You can go through the flow to create a Mollie account directly from the Qonto app.
- Navigate to the Payment links section in your Qonto App
- Click on activate payment links
- Follow the activation path and provide the required additional business information, such as your commercial website, business phone support contact and a description of your business.
- This will help us and our partner validate your information and activate your account faster
- To activate the feature, a website must be provided. Alternatively, a LinkedIn profile or another business-related page can be used.
- Accept the contract and terms of agreement with our partner
- If the information provided is valid, you will be automatically able to create and start using payment links.
Done! 🎉
Once payment links are activated, you will be able to create them as standalone or from your invoice creation flow.
👆Please note: Activation may take additional time due to Mollie's manual review but you can already create invoice drafts during the review period. There might be additional information requested from Mollie via E-Mail to validate the account. You receive an email confirmation from us once your account is validated and payment links are ready to use.
It is not possible to deactivate a payment link directly. To do so:
- You must cancel the invoice associated with that link.
- Once the invoice is canceled, the corresponding payment link is automatically deactivated and can no longer be used.
You also have the option to deactivate the payment links feature by clicking the "🔌" button to the left of the activation button.
Important: Once deactivated, you will no longer be able to create payment links. This action is permanent and you will not be able to reconnect your account with Mollie in the future.
How to create payment links?
For Standalone Payment Links:
- Navigate to the Payment Links section in your Qonto App.
- Click on "Create payment link".
- Choose how you want to share the payment link: you can create it without an invoice, with an invoice, or with an imported invoice.
If you choose option 3, you will need to select the invoice from the files on your device - Enter the products or services, payment amount
- Customise your link to enable or disable the desired payment methods
- Set a payment link to accept only one single payment or accept multiple payments from different clients
- Generate and share the payment link with your clients via email, messaging apps, or other channels.
☝️ For French-based company clients 🇫🇷 who import electronic invoices (only with format Factur-X, UBL, or CII), they have the option to also send them to the Portail Public de Facturation.
Standalone payment links work independently of invoices and are perfect for collecting one-time payments, deposits, or payments that don't require a formal invoice.
For Invoice-based Payment Links:
- Navigate to your client invoices section in your Qonto App.
- Create your invoice depending on your business needs and click on "next".
- Select "Activate payment links" in the following "Payment Details" screen.
- Follow the setup path if you haven't already activated payment links.
- Complete your invoice creation process.
👆Please note: All payment links expire automatically after 6 months.
For imported invoice-based payment links:
- Go to the client invoices section in your Qonto application.
- Select the Upload Invoices icon in the right top corner
- Click "Add Payment Method" and select "Activate payment links".
- Complete the setup process if this is your first time (one-time only).
- Finish configuring the online payment method.
Who can access this feature?
This feature is accessible in all plans via mobile and web apps for the roles Owner and Admin.
👆 Please note: Payment links are currently available only for French, German and Dutch organisations.
Which payment methods are available?
Your clients can pay you using their preferred payment method, including:
- Credit and Debit Cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Carte Bancaire cards)
- Apple Pay – Limit up to €10,000 per transaction
- PayPal
- iDeal (popular in the Netherlands) – Limit up to €50,000 per transaction
👉 When creating a payment link, you choose which payment methods you want to offer, giving you full control over how your clients pay.
If a client pays you in a different currency, Mollie handles the conversion and credits your Qonto account in euros (EUR).
Mollie uses competitive and transparent exchange rates, no hidden markups, no surprises.
Is bank transfer also an option to get paid?
Yes. In addition to payment links, your clients can also pay you by bank transfer directly to your Qonto IBAN.
This option is free of processing fees (no Mollie fees are applied), and within the SEPA area, bank transfers are often processed instantly or very quickly.
Please note:
Bank transfers count towards the incoming transfer quota included in your plan. Beyond this quota, additional fees may apply according to your pricing plan.
What are the costs and how does payment processing work?
Creating and sending payment links is free.
You only pay a processing fee when a client pays via card, PayPal or other supported methods.
💡If your client prefers to pay you by bank transfer instead of using a payment link, this payment is processed as a standard incoming transfer to your Qonto account and will count towards the incoming transfer quota included in your plan.
Each payment method has a different rate. You’ll find the full pricing details below.
When a payment link is paid, the system automatically marks the associated invoice (if applicable) as paid. The received payout is linked to the transaction, providing justification for pre-accounting purposes.
| Payment Method | Variable per Transaction | Fixed (in EUR) |
|---|---|---|
| iDeal | n/a | 0.32 |
| Carte Bancaire consumer | 1.4% | 0.25 |
| Carte Bancaire commercial | 1.9% | 0.25 |
| Visa, Mastercard: Domestic consumer cards | 1.5% | 0.25 |
| Visa, Mastercard: Domestic corporate cards | 2.2% | 0.25 |
| Visa, Mastercard: EU consumer cards | 1.5% | 0.25 |
| Visa, Mastercard: EU corporate cards | 2.2% | 0.25 |
| Visa, Mastercard: cards outside the European Economic Area | 3.25% | 0.25 |
| PayPal | 0.1% | 0.1 |
| AMEX | 2.9% | 0.25 |
| Apple Pay | Rate defined by card used | n/a |
You will receive a monthly invoice by email linked to your Mollie account, detailing all fees associated with payments processed through Mollie.
👆Good to know: For a payment to be credited to your account, your Mollie balance must be at least €5.
Example:
You receive a payment of €2.40.
Your account will only be credited with the next payment received if it is greater than or equal to €2.60 (2.40 + 2.60 = 5).
How do I manage and track my payment links?
You can view all payment links (both invoice-related and standalone) under Business Account → Payment links.
From here, you will be able to track:
- The payment status
- Fees related to each payment
- Any delay or blockage/issue with the payment
Payment links can have different statuses depending on their type:
For Invoice Payment Links:
- Active (connected to an unpaid invoice and available for payment)
- Completed (connected to a paid invoice and has processed one payment)
- Expired (links automatically expire 6 months after creation)
- Canceled (connected to a canceled invoice and no longer accepts payments)
- In progress (when a payment is being processed and has not yet reached your account)
The estimated credit date is visible in the application.
If you cancel an invoice (with or without a credit note), the associated payment link will automatically expire and become inactive for future payment.
For Standalone Payment Links:
- Active (available for payment)
- Paid (for single-use links that have processed one payment)
- Expired (links automatically expire 6 months after creation)
- Canceled (no longer accepts payments)
- In progress (when a payment is being processed and has not yet reached your account)
The estimated credit date is visible in the application.
When creating a standalone payment link, you can choose:
- One-off payment: the link expires after one use.
- Reusable: the link stays active and can collect payments from different clients.
This gives you the flexibility to use payment links for everything from client invoices to workshops, products, or services payments.
You can differentiate invoice-related payment links from standalone payment links because invoice-related payment links will always have one invoice attached to the link.
👆Please note: For reusable payment links, you will be able to visualise all payments received directly from the payment link side panel or details screen on mobile. The payments related to a payment link will contain the email of the payer and the payment execution date.
How does the payment settlement process work?
When you receive payments through payment links, there is a brief processing period before funds appear in your account. This is due to our partner, Mollie, applying a settlement delay for credit and debit card transactions, which usually takes about 2 business days.
If the transaction is subject to checks, the processing time may be extended.
There is a settlement delay for iDeal of 1 business day.
Once we've completed a quick review and approval of your account, you'll start receiving payouts to your chosen Qonto account every business day.
Plus, you have the convenience of adjusting your payout schedule to fit your needs directly from your Mollie dashboard.
What should I know about payouts and fees?
There are several important aspects about the payout process:
- Payouts do not occur on bank holidays, but will process on the next business day
- The payout reference counterparty will be indicated as "Stichting Mollie Payments"
- You will receive a monthly statement via E-Mail linked to your Mollie account detailing all fees associated with your Mollie-processed payments
How does the rolling reserve work?
- Mollie holds a percentage (usually 20%) of each credit/debit card payment.
- The held funds are released within 60 to 180 days.
- The remaining percentage (usually 80%) follows the standard 2-business-day settlement period.
- This measure is applied manually by Mollie based on a risk assessment.
☝️ Good to know: Customers affected by rolling reserves receive an email notification from Mollie.
How are my payouts protected?
We keep your payments save and secure. To maintain security and prevent fraud, Mollie implements various risk assessment measures that might affect the timing and frequency of your payouts. If these security measures impact your account, you will receive prompt notification along with guidance on any necessary next steps.
