When will my check be credited?

  • Updated

🇫🇷 This article only applies to companies registered in France.

🇩🇪 The cashing of checks is not available for companies registered in Germany.

As soon as your cheque is marked as "Received" in your Qonto interface, a processing period applies before the amount is credited to your account. This period varies depending on the cheque amount and may be extended for compliance checks.

If you have the option, we recommend using instant transfers instead: they credit your account in under 10 seconds, with no processing delay.

This feature is available to Owners and Admins on 💻 web and 📱 mobile. Cheques are available on all Qonto plans for the French market.

How long does it take for my cheque to be credited?

Credit timelines are calculated in business days (Monday to Friday), from the date of the "Received" notification:

  • Cheque ≤ €3,500: credited within 2 business days
  • Cheque > €3,500: credited within 11 business days

☝️ Good to know: As part of random compliance and security checks, these timelines may be extended to up to 15 business days. This is not systematic, but keeping this possibility in mind will help you avoid any surprises.

Cheques are always credited at the end of the day, between 8 PM and 9 PM.

⚠️ Your cheques will not be credited on the following public holidays:

  • Thursday, 1 January (New Year's Day)
  • Friday, 3 April (Good Friday)
  • Monday, 6 April (Easter Monday)
  • Friday, 1 May (Labour Day)
  • Friday, 25 December (Christmas Day)

How can I track my cheque processing?

You can track each step directly from your account. On 💻 web, go to Business account > Cheques.

Here is what each status means:

  • Awaiting receipt: your cheque has been successfully registered in Qonto — you now need to send it by post.
  • Processing: your cheque has been received and verification is underway. The credit will be applied shortly in accordance with the timelines indicated above.

⚠️ You must register your cheque in your Qonto account before sending it by post. Without prior registration, Qonto will not be able to process it and will have to return it to you.

Why is my cheque taking longer than expected?

If the expected timeline has passed, there are several possible reasons:

  • An additional compliance or security check has been triggered (timeline may extend to up to 15 business days).
  • The credit falls on a public holiday and has been moved to the next business day.
  • Your cheque was not registered in your account before being posted, which is blocking the processing.

If the 15 business day timeline has passed with no credit visible, please contact our support team from your Qonto interface.
