Put your extra cash to work and earn daily returns with Qonto's MMF Investment feature. 🚀 This lets you invest directly from your Qonto account into a professionally managed Money Market Fund (MMF) that holds safe, short-term assets like government bonds.
You can invest from as little as €1, and your returns are automatically reinvested to grow your balance over time. View everything in your Qonto app and get your money back when you need it (usually within the next two business days).
This is an investment, not a savings account. Your money moves off your Qonto account into a separate investment account managed by our regulated partners, Upvest and Concedus.
💡 Available to: GmbHs and UGs registered in Germany, on Smart, Essential, Premium, Business, or Enterprise plans. Accessible by Owner with SCA enabled (Accountants can view only, not invest) (💻 web and 📱 mobile).
1. What is MMF Investment and how does it work?
A Money Market Fund (MMF) is an investment fund that holds safe, short-term assets like government bonds and high-quality corporate debt. It's designed to provide stable returns while keeping your money accessible.
Your funds are invested in the BlackRock ICS Euro Liquidity Fund Core Acc (ISIN: IE0005023910). The fund holds only high-quality, short-term securities. As an accumulating fund, income is not distributed separately. Instead, the total return reflects changes to the fund's net asset value (NAV), based on the amortised cost of the underlying securities and the income accrued within the fund, as represented by the fund's price.
For more details about the fund, visit the official BlackRock fund page.
We are partnering with two BaFin-licensed investment firms to offer this service:
- Upvest: Provides technology and custody services
- Concedus: Is legally responsible for the investment service provided by Qonto (reception and transmission of investment orders)
Both partners are regulated by German financial authorities and follow strict GDPR data protection rules.
To set up your investment account, we share information you've already provided (like your business details and identity verification) with our partners. We also collect your tax residency information to comply with regulatory requirements.
☝️ Important: This is an investment, not a savings account or bank deposit. Your money moves into a separate investment account that is legally distinct from your Qonto account. The fund's assets are held by J.P. Morgan SE – Dublin Branch, acting as the fund's depositary. Your invested funds are segregated and safeguarded independently from Qonto, Upvest, and Concedus.
2. Why can't I access the investment feature?
If you're unable to access investments, here are the most common reasons:
- You're on the Basic plan (upgrade to Smart or higher to gain access)
- Your legal form isn't supported yet - we currently only support GmbH and UG
- You don't have Owner permissions in your Qonto account
- You organization is not based in Germany
- Additional eligibility conditions apply. For a full overview, see the Eligibility requirements.
Can my application be rejected?
Yes, in rare cases your onboarding application may be rejected due to:
- Missing or incomplete business documentation
- Tax residency information that is incomplete or unclear
- Additional verification needed for compliance reasons
3. What if I need to update my business or personal information?
In some cases, we may ask you to update your identity or business documents before you can activate or continue using MMF Investment. This is a legal requirement for financial institutions offering investment services.
We may request updated documents if:
- Your ID, passport, residence permit, or business registration documents have expired
- Your address, tax residency, ownership structure, or beneficial owner information has changed
- Required information is missing or incomplete
What you may need to provide
- Valid identity document (ID card or passport)
- Current residence permit (if applicable)
- Proof of address dated within the last 3 months
- Updated business documents if company details or ownership have changed
How to submit: Contact Qonto Customer Care, indicate your information needs updating, and confirm you want to proceed with the Investment feature: Customer Care
Processing time
Most updates are reviewed within 2–5 business days. You’ll be notified by email once approved.
⚠️ Important: We’re legally required to maintain current, accurate information for all investment account holders. If requested updates aren’t provided promptly, access to the investment feature may be temporarily restricted until compliance requirements are met.
4. What are the risks and protections?
This is not a bank deposit, which means different protections and risks apply.
Important information: Capital at Risk. The value of investments and the income from them can fall as well as rise and are not guaranteed. Investors may not get back the amount originally invested.
On any day where the net return (i.e. return less costs and expenses) of the fund is negative, the fund will see a decrease in the NAV per share. Short-term Money Market Funds do not generally experience extreme price variations. Changes in interest rates will impact the fund.
Investment risks:
- Your investment value can fluctuate based on market conditions
- You could theoretically get back less than you invested (though this is rare with high-quality MMFs)
- No deposit insurance protection applies
- Returns are not guaranteed and can change daily
Regulatory protections:
- Heavily regulated by BaFin (German financial regulator) and EU authorities
- Invests only in high-quality, short-term securities
- Your assets are kept separate in custody (segregated from partner companies' assets)
- The fund's depositary provides regulatory oversight and safeguards your assets independently
⚠️ Our advice: Only invest money you won't need for immediate day-to-day expenses. MMF Investment is a great place to park surplus cash or funds set aside for future payments, such as tax provisions, while keeping enough in your regular Qonto account for bills, payroll, and emergencies.
While Money Market Funds are considered low-risk investments, they are not risk-free. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
5. How much can I invest and when can I access my money?
Investment limits:
- Minimum: €1 per transaction
- Maximum: 1.5M€
Supported currencies:
EUR only. This is a Euro-denominated fund, so you can only invest in Euros. If you have other currencies in Qonto, convert them first using Qonto's standard currency exchange (normal FX fees apply).
Accessing your money:
Your money typically returns to your Qonto main account within the next two business days when you sell your assets. There are no penalties, early withdrawal fees, or lock-up periods.
Trading hours:
- Orders placed Monday to Friday before 13:00 CET: Processed instantly
- Orders placed after 13:00 CET: Processed the next business day
- Weekends and bank holidays: Processed on the next business day
Always maintain sufficient funds in your regular Qonto account to cover immediate needs, since withdrawals take at least one business day to process.
6. How do I track and manage my orders? (NEW)
Once you place a buy or sell order, you can track it directly in your Investment Cockpit. Each order shows the following details:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Fund Name | BlackRock ICS Euro Liquidity Fund |
| ISIN | IE0005023910 |

| Execution Date | The date the order was actually traded (not the placement date) |
| Ex-Ante Report | Regulatory document (MiFID II) - available as a downloadable PDF |
| Service Fee | Shown for sell orders only when 100% of assets are liquidated |
| Debited / Credited Account | Shows which account was debited (Buy) or credited (Sell) |
What happens to my order after it's placed?
| Status | What it means | Can I cancel? |
|---|---|---|
| Processing / In Progress | Order is currently being processed | ✅ Yes |

Can I cancel a Processing order?
Yes, as long as your order is not yet executed. To cancel:
- Open your Investment Cockpit
- Go to your order history
- Select the processing order
- Tap "Cancel Order"
Once an order moves to Completed, cancellation is no longer possible. If your order shows as "Under Review" and you need help, please contact Qonto Customer Care.
7. What returns can I expect?
Your net return depends on your Qonto subscription plan. Higher plans receive better rates as part of their benefits package.
Current estimated net yields (APY):*
- Smart: 0.90%
- Essential: 1.10%
- Premium: 1.30%
- Business: 1.50%
- Enterprise: 1.70%
APY = Annual Percentage Yield (after all Qonto fees but before taxes). The APY shows the yearly return, net of fees and including compounding. It's based on the last 30 days and is subject to market fluctuations.
How returns are calculated:
The fund uses an accumulating structure. No cash dividends or interest payments are distributed. Instead, all earnings are automatically reinvested back into the fund, and your return appears as a daily increase in the fund's Net Asset Value (NAV). As the NAV increases, your shares gradually become worth more.
Important: These rates change daily based on market conditions and the fund's performance. Rates shown are net of Qonto service fees but before personal or business taxes. These are not guaranteed rates—Money Market Fund yields fluctuate with European Central Bank policy rates and market conditions. .
