How do I pay a supplier invoice by scanning a GiroCode?

  • Updated

GiroCode scan-to-pay lets you pay supplier invoices in seconds by scanning the QR code printed on the invoice. Qonto reads the code and automatically pre-fills the transfer form — beneficiary, IBAN, amount, and reference — so you don't have to enter details manually.

This feature is available on the 📱 mobile app only (iOS & Android), for Owners, Admins, and Managers with transfer permissions in 🇩🇪 Germany and 🇦🇹 Austria, on all plans. Employees do not have access.

How do I scan a GiroCode to pay an invoice?

  1. From your 📱 mobile app access the feature from one of these entry points:
    • Tap the Scan to pay shortcut on your home screen
    • Tap Make a transfer shortcut on your home screen → Pay an invoice
    • Go to MenuTransfersMake a transferPay an Invoice
  2. Tap Scan QR code and point the in-app camera at the QR code on your invoice
  3. Qonto reads the code and pre-fills the transfer form with the invoice details
  4. You can take a photo of the invoice to attach it automatically, or skip this step
  5. Review the pre-filled details, adjust or add if needed, and confirm. The payment is processed as a standard SEPA Credit Transfer in EUR

What are the limitations?

This feature is only available on the 📱 mobile app — scanning from a PDF on desktop is not supported. Only SEPA Credit Transfers in EUR can be initiated this way. If your invoice does not include an EPC QR code, you can still upload and pay it from the Supplier invoices section.
