Based on the german civil law (Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch – BGB), an account should be considered inactive if Qonto has not recorded any activity in the last 3 years such as:
- Transactions (excluding the debit of fees and commission of any kind)
- Successful log in attempts
- Contacts to customer support from the account owner (or any third party entitled to act the account holder’s behalf).
What happens in case of inactivity?
Billing cycle
Automatically, after 3 years without contacts, transactions or Successful log in attempts, Qonto will consider the account inactive and continue the current billing cycle you committed to.
💡 Your subscription, cards, and additional fees will be billed according to your plan and options.
An email will be sent to the owner and admins of your account, to inform you about the inactivity.
Remaining funds in the account
If the account is still inactive, Qonto has no obligation to transfer unclaimed funds to the State.
