💡 The terminal is standalone and automatically synced with the Qonto account it was initially linked to. It is not possible to:
- Link it to another Qonto account or to a sub-account
- Connect it to an external cash register/POS system
- Change its settings to switch to a different account
What are the payment capabilities and fees?
Terminals accept Visa and Mastercard cards with a € 60,000 transaction limit. American Express cards and meal voucher/restaurant cards are not accepted.
Fees vary by type of card:
- 0.8% for all EU consumer cards, regardless of your plan
- 2.6% for non-EU and all corporate/business cards, regardless of your plan
Your first 5 transactions are free regardless of amount (Tap to Pay and POS) – it's recommended to start with a € 1 test transaction.
⚠️ Pre-authorizations or payment in installments are not possible with Qonto POS terminals (for security deposit, split payments for example).
How do transactions and settlements work?
📱 Process payments through the shortcut → Tap to Pay or Business account → Tap to Pay.
🖥️ Navigate to the section Business account → Click on Tap to Pay.
Funds are settled the next business day (D+1) via a single transfer combining all transactions, with detailed transaction information included.
Refunds can be processed directly in the app by selecting the specific transaction.
Where can I see my pending payments?
Your list of pending and completed payments can be found directly in your Qonto customer area:

Menu → In-person payments on the mobile app.
You can also view your payment history on the payment terminal without having to open the Qonto app.
- Tap the menu icon in the top-right corner.
- Select Payment History.
- Select a payment from the list to view more details.
⚠️ The payment history displayed on the terminal is spcific to that device. If you use multiple terminals or both contactless payments and payment terminals, you can always view the complete history of all the transactions in person in the Payment Terminals section of the mobile and web apps.

What is the tipping feature and how does it work?
The tipping feature allows merchants to collect tips from customers at their point of sale (POS) terminals.
Activating the tipping feature
The tipping functionality is opted-out by default. To activate it on your POS terminal, follow these steps:
- Click on Options in the top right corner of your main POS screen
- Scroll down to the Tipping section (located below the Payment lists and settings)
- Select the option to activate tipping
- Enter your PIN code (you received this by email after your order)
💡 Important: The opt-in button is only available on your POS terminal, not in the mobile or web app. Once activated, tipping is enabled across all terminals connected to your organization.
If you forgot your PIN code, please contact our support team to have it renewed.
How the feature works
Once the to-be-charged amount is entered, the terminal displays a tipping screen to your customer. Your customer can choose from the following options:
- 5% tip
- 10% tip
- 15% tip
- Custom tip amount (customer can enter any amount)
The selected tip is automatically added to the total amount, and the payment is processed as usual. At the end of the day, your PDF summary includes the tip amount for each transaction.
The Product and Service catalogue
➡️ What is the product and service catalogue?
The Product and Service catalogue lets you create a list of items (products or services) directly in Qonto and select them at the time of payment, from your POS terminal or your Tap to Pay app. No more manually entering prices for every transaction.
This feature is available on Tap to Pay and on Qonto POS terminals.
➡️ How do I create my catalogue?
Only Account holders and Admins can create and manage the catalogue.
From the web app:
Log in to your Qonto account:
Go to Business account → Payment terminals → Manage products and services
Add items one by one (name + price) or import them in bulk via a file
From the mobile app:
Open the Qonto app
Go to Payment terminals → Manage products and services
Create or edit items directly from your smartphone
➡️ How do I use the catalogue at the time of payment?
A new Items tab is available at the top of your terminal screen or Tap to Pay app.
When checking out a customer, you can:
-Browse your catalogue and select the items you need
-Add multiple items to a basket and adjust quantities
-Combine catalogue items with a manually entered amount in a single transaction
-Resume your basket if a payment fails, without having to recreate it
➡️ Can I import an existing catalogue?
Yes. From the web app, you can import your items in bulk via a file. This is the ideal solution if you want to migrate a catalogue from another tool.
➡️ Is my catalogue also available for invoicing?
Yes. The catalogue is built on Qonto's existing Products and services feature, already used for invoicing. This means:
💡If you have already created items for your invoices, they are immediately available on your payment terminals, with no additional setup required.
Items added for the terminal are also available when creating invoices.
You can access the same catalogue from:
Invoices → Products and services → Business account → Payment terminals → Manage products and services
➡️ Who can use the catalogue at the time of payment?
On POS terminals, Account holders, Admins, Managers and Employees can all use the catalogue.
On the mobile app (Tap to Pay), only Account holders and Admins can access the catalogue. Managers and Employees will see an empty screen in that section.
➡️ Does the receipt show a breakdown of each item?
Not yet. The catalogue records the items selected at the time of payment, but the receipt does not yet display a product-by-product breakdown. This feature is planned for a future release.
➡️ Does the catalogue automatically handle VAT?
No. Automatic VAT management and product-level accounting exports are not available at this time. The product catalogue is not an accounting or VAT tool.
Are there any restrictions on who can use Qonto’s POS?

Prohibited activities include, but are not limited to:
- Sales of regulated or banned substances (e.g. tobacco, CBD, vaping products or alcohol without proper licensing)
